Fees
The fee for the first consultation is $442.10 of which Medicare will refund, leaving you with a gap to pay of $180. Subsequent consultations are as follows:
45 to 60 minutes: $302.90 (gap payable $118)
30 to 45 minutes: $232 (gap payable $98)
15 to 30 minutes: $148.05 (gap payable $61)
Less than 15 minutes: $ 89.65 (gap payable $46)

Please ask about concession fees if you hold a pension card or health care card.
In some circumstances fees are covered by Department of Veterans Affairs, Australian Defence Force, WorkCover Queensland, or other organisations. In most of these circumstances no additional fees are charged for consultation and the organisation is responsible for your medical expenses.
Payment
Payment must be made in full on the day of each appointment. Dr Curson’s practices accept cash, cheques, and EFTPOS payments including Visa. A fee is charged for any dishonoured cheques.
We send claims to Medicare online, and if Medicare has your current bank details you will receive an instant rebate on the same day as your consultation.
Remember:
- Practice staff cannot give you cash on the spot as your Medicare refund
Medicare safety net
There is a safety net for all Medicare cardholders based on the difference between the schedule fee (set by Medicare) and the Medicare benefit, for all medical consultations in a calendar year. Once this threshold is reached, Medicare will reimburse you for the full amount of the schedule fee or 80% reimbursement depending on your circumstances. Medicare automatically calculates this amount and will reimburse this on all paid accounts for the rest of the year. To receive this benefit, you must be registered for the safety net.
